VOTE LIKE YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT, BECAUSE IT DOES!
Texans, Get Out And Vote!
We are in charge of our own destiny. We are able to make changes but it starts at the local level, and it takes time. On average voter turnout in the United States is low — and because of that, local elections tend to suffer most. Only 56% of the voting-age population cast a ballot in the 2016 presidential election. 56% is low consideting our population and whats at stake, but even more alarming local elections are even lower. Nationwide, only 27% of eligible voters participated in local elections. Studies show that voter turnout for local elections is higher if they coincide with a larger election cycle, known as on-cycle elections. Two times higher on average, in fact.
